Apple rumors: MacBook Pro 14 & 16 (2021) will go into series production

As Digitimes reports, Apple has given the go-ahead for series production of the new MacBook Pro with 14 and 16 inch displays. In the period from August to November, up to 800,000 systems are to be manufactured per month. The presentation is expected in autumn this year.

The rumors have been in agreement for a long time

It has long been expected that Apple will return to the roots of the series with the new MacBook Pro models: to reliable work equipment with high performance and durability. The current platform, which was sold as a revolutionary five years ago, did not meet this requirement with the waiver of any connections apart from Thunderbolt 3 (via USB Type C), the persistent problems with the flat butterfly keyboard and the touch bar, which is hardly relevant in (professional) everyday life done justice.

The new design expected for autumn with more flattened sides in the style of the iPad Pro should go hand in hand with the return of earlier interfaces. Ports for HDMI, SD cards and MagSafe should again meet the demands of professional customers who have only had to get by with Thunderbolt over the past few years. The “M1X” as a drilled variant of last year's M1 is to serve as the drive. Construction plans leaked from industrial circles confirmed these rumors in the spring.

Mini-LED displays are also expected

The use of a mini-LED backlight is also expected for the new MacBook Pro. Investments in appropriate suppliers should also enable large-scale use in both versions with 14 and 16 inches.

With 14 inches a real premiere

While there has been a MacBook Pro with a 16-inch (test) display since the end of 2019, it had inherited the 15.6-inch model, with the MacBook Pro 14 the changing of the guard for the traditional 13.3-inch model.
