Smartphones: Xiaomi was number one globally for the first time in June

According to figures from the monthly market analysis by Counterpoint Research, Xiaomi was the world's largest smartphone manufacturer for the first time in June of this year, ahead of Samsung and Apple. With the elimination of Huawei and a strong boost compared to the previous month, Xiaomi achieved a market share of 17.1 percent and thus number one.

It is followed by Samsung with 15.7 percent and Apple with 14.3 percent for June. According to the analysts, Xiaomi has been able to sell almost 800 million smartphones since entering the market in 2011.

Xiaomi exploits Huawei's weakness

Samsung, in turn, had to manage a new wave of COVID-19 at the production sites in Vietnam.
