It was during the election campaign before the EU election 2019 that a square meeting that Alternative for Sweden held in Sundsvall was subjected to sabotage.
The attack was captured on film showing how the syndicalist Ëlmë Ämting, pours herring spade over a table with election material lined up in the square. She is accompanied by a man named William Wilja Viklund.
AFS reported the sabotage to the police and the two left-wing activists were identified by police directly at the scene. But after that, the police allowed time to pass until it was no longer possible to bring charges, as the crime would soon become statute-barred.
online, but when a constitutionally protected election rally is attacked, the police do nothing. It is under all criticism, says Gustav Kasselstrand to Fria Tider.
– My impression is that the police systematically disadvantage our party. The fact that the police are unable to remain politically neutral in the exercise of their authority threatens democracy and the free formation of opinion.
When the police ignored the case, AFS chose to go ahead and take legal action against the two left-wing activists. At the end of May this year, the party submitted a lawsuit to Sundsvall District Court. The party demands that Ëlmë Ämting and William Wilja Viklund pay SEK 5,400 in damages for the election material that was destroyed and as compensation for the time the party was forced to spend cleaning up after the attack.
Ämting and Viklund have now received with a defense to the district court. They have hired a lawyer from Folkets Juristbyrå, which markets itself as “Sweden's first law firm with a focus on LGBTQ people”, to bring their case in the dispute with AFS. Folkets Juristbyrå is run by Joakim Lundqvist, who claims to be a man, and Silas Aliki, who claims to be a “it”.
Ämting admits that she has poured herring spade on the AFS table, but disputes the party's claim for damages. She objects that AFS has not relied on any evidence to prove that the party has been harmed by her attack.
“No written evidence that can prove that the association, by pouring sour herring spade on the association's table, caused damage corresponding to an amount of SEK 5,400 has not been submitted with the lawsuit. Nor has information been provided as to what property was destroyed “, writes Ämting's legal representative Joakim Lundqvist in the defense.
William Wilja Viklund also disputes AFS 'claims.
” William Wilja Wiklund denies that he poured out sour herring spade on Alternative for Sweden's property. On the other hand, he has put away a can of sour herring that he did not want to keep in his hand on the table in question “, it is stated in the defense.
Gustav Kasselstrand leaves the following comment in an email to Fria Tider:
“One of the left-wing extremists admits the damage in her answer to Sundsvall District Court. Now she is trying to avoid liability for payment by claiming that the damage did not cause the party any costs, which of course is absurd. We will send clear evidence of the damage, both photo and film where sour herring and spade appear to be poured over flyers, caps, pins and other profile products. As usual, the left refuses to take responsibility for its own actions – they are used to it always being someone else who pays. “
