“A flag worth defending”, was the message in the Swedish Armed Forces' advertisement, which covered the entire front page of SvD on Sunday.

The picture showed Swedish soldiers holding up a rainbow flag.

The advertisement has caused an international uproar and, among other things, has been ridiculed in the Russian media.

At home, the Armed Forces has received criticism. On the right, many believe that it is unreasonable for the Swedish defense to spread homosexuality and cultural Marxism. On the left, for example, Amanda Sparmann in Expressen has used the term “homonationalism”, which according to her refers to how LGBTQ people “are used as an excuse to attack foreign powers, cultures, and groups”.

The Armed Forces' press secretary Jonas Olsson now announces that the bill for the campaign landed at no less than SEK 700,000, which means 875,000 tax kroner including VAT.

“The campaign has cost SEK 300,000 in advertising production and SEK 400,000 in media purchases. A total of SEK 700,000 (excl. VAT)” , he writes in an email to Fria Tider.
