With seven monitors for gamers, HP is comprehensively expanding its own gaming range. The models X27c, X27qc and X32c have a curved VA panel. A flat IPS panel is used for the X27, X27q, X32 and X34. For all of them, HP names a refresh rate of 165 Hz, a response time of 1 ms and AMD FreeSync Premium.
HDR is relevant but hardly implemented
In the press material available, HP refers to a study in which 71 percent of the players surveyed stated that HDR was one of the most important features of a gaming monitor. It is all the more astonishing that only three of the seven new HP monitors have HDR certification. DisplayHDR 400 is also the lowest level of the VESA HDR standards.
All new models in the X series offer an adjustable stand (Pivot is only available on the X27 and X27q), EyeSafe certification and access to functions in the OMEN Gaming Hub. The manufacturer also advertises that the monitors are “sustainably produced” and “80 percent made from recycled materials and recyclable packaging”.
Four times IPS without curvature
The four newcomers with flat IPS panels are specified with a brightness of 400 cd/m², a contrast ratio of 1,000: 1 as well as 8-bit color depth and 99 percent sRGB. The cheapest model is the HP X27, which displays 1,920 × 1,080 pixels on a 27-inch diagonal for 269 euros and does not have HDR certification. The remaining models offer HDR 400. The X27q (27 inches, € 333) and the X32 (31.5 inches, € 399) offer the higher WQHD resolution of 2,560 × 1,440 pixels.

The X34 (34 inches, 499 €), which ComputerBase has already reported on, has 3,440 × 1,440 pixels in 21: 9 format. The models X27 and X27q are already available in stores and currently cost 249 euros and 333 euros at the cheapest dealers. The X32 should be available in October and the X34 from November.
Three times curved VA without HDR
The screen of the models marked with a small “c” is curved in a radius of 1.5 meters (1500R), which is intended to increase immersion. The VA panel is a bit darker with 350 cd/m², but delivers a significantly higher contrast ratio of 1,000: 1. None of the VA monitors have an HDR certificate.

The X27c with 27 inches and Full HD is the entry-level model for 289 euros and available in September. With the X27qc, WQHD resolution is available from September for 333 euros with the same diagonal. Full HD on 31.5 inches means the X32c has a low pixel density of 70 ppi for 399 euros, which will be available from October.
