The Facebook app is known for the many different designs that are tested among the public. At any time, the Facebook app may look slightly different, with a different layout or a different Settings screen. In recent years, the latter screen in particular has often changed and at the moment this is still a rather long list of all kinds of headings and options. Facebook has now announced that the Settings screen will be overhauled, with far fewer categories.

Account settings, privacy, security, advertisements, stories and so on: Facebook now uses various headings that contain all kinds of settings. It can therefore be difficult to find that one correct setting. Partly for this reason, Facebook has decided to considerably limit the number of categories. There will now be six headings: account, preferences, audience and visibility, permissions, your information and communication and policies.
Because the number of categories is limited, apparently similar settings can now be placed under different headings. In addition, Facebook has the new Privacy Checkup, where you can check your most important privacy settings. If you are a Facebook user, it is in any case wise to go through the settings and adjust the app and your account to your preferences. Facebook's default settings are not always desirable, especially in the area of privacy.
The new settings are now rolling out in both the mobile app and the mobile website. It may take a while before it is visible to you. Want to know more about Facebook's settings? For example, check out our article with privacy tips for Facebook.
