Spotify Plus: cheap subscription
Shortly after the announcement of YouTube Premium Lite, Spotify now also seems to have plans for a cheaper bundle. With Spotify Plus you pay $0.99 per month and you can choose which songs you listen to, between the commercials. You can also skip unlimited and listen on demand. Now you need a Spotify Premium subscription for these functions, which costs €9.99 per month.
As with YouTube, this is a test with a limited number of users for the time being, Spotify has confirmed . It will mainly be intended to persuade the free listeners to pay a small amount. With the free version of Spotify, you are only allowed to skip six tracks per hour and you are stuck with pre-baked playlists or listening to random songs by an artist.
Spotify has even more plans: in February it was announced that Spotify HiFi is coming, a more expensive bundle with music in higher quality. Shortly afterwards, Apple announced that it would also release music in higher quality, for which you do not have to pay anything extra. Apple Music Lossless has been available to subscribers since June and has also added spatial listening with Dolby Atmos to its offering. Spotify has not yet announced a date when the HiFi bundle will start.
