Cougar's interpretation of a small case suitable for games produces an industrial look with two handles and snap fasteners. There is also an interior with a sandwich layout and space for long graphics cards. In the area of cooling, however, the new Dust 2 is less flexible than its competitors.
The layout used by Cougar is now known from the smallest segment. In the sandwich arrangement, the graphics card is placed behind the mainboard with a riser cable. As a result, coolers move closer to the side wall, whereby the height limitation of 70 millimeters still leaves enough room for more powerful compact coolers that have more power and thus more volume reserves.
Because the case, with dimensions of 175 × 229 × 403 mm (W × H × D, without handles) and a volume of a good 21 liters, is larger than the tiny Dan A4 or Ncase M1, an ATX can actually be used in this Segment typical SFX power supply unit can be used. There is a limit of 160 millimeters in length. One 2.5 “hard drive fits behind the front and one across the back above the GPU. This is limited to a height of 60 millimeters and a width of two slots.

The Dust 2 also accommodates a single 3.5 “drive, but at the expense of one of two possible fans. In this case, the hard drive blocks one of the two 120 or 140 mm fan positions under the cover. There is also space for a 280 mm radiator due to the height of the housing. Two 120 mm fans are included. Air is supplied passively through the perforated side panels, through which the graphics card and CPU cooler are supposed to supply themselves.
Cougar does not provide any information on price and availability. The cladding with aluminum panels on the outside suggests that the price cannot be in the double digits. The Dust 2 is located clearly above the QBX in-house. In this price range, the Cooler Master NR200P becomes the toughest competitor with a similar volume. The model doesn't have such a fancy design, but there is room for more fans, larger coolers and thicker graphics cards.
