The month of July 2021 for the Italian auto market closes in a very heavy manner . Overall, there were 110,282 registrations, the highest level; low of the year. The decline is not; only in comparison with 2019 but also with 2020. A year ago there were 136,768 registrations (-19.4%), while in July 2019 153,331 (-28.1%). The absence of incentives for the 61-135 g/km of CO2 range and the chip crisis which slowed the production of new cars undoubtedly weighed on the result of the month of July.

Looking at the data from the beginning of the year, the loss compared to 2019 rises to 250,000 units (-19.5%). According to UNRAE, 2021 could close with over 300,000 cars lost, adding up to the 500,000 fewer cars registered in 2020. The refinancing of the incentives could help the Italian automotive sector to recover, however, by UNRAE there is; disappointment for the resources allocated which are judged insufficient to adequately manage the transition towards decarbonisation.

The renewal of the incentives was an expected measure, but the entity & agrave; of resources is clearly inadequate to support, at least until the end of the year, the replacement of as many polluting cars as possible with Euro 6 cars. E & rsquo; what we have repeatedly asked for as UNRAE and that is; been received by many parliamentarians from all sides. The approved provision, for how & egrave; formulated, it instead provides for a rapid depletion of funds and, therefore, the concrete risk that already exists; in September there will be & agrave; a new stop on the market.

ELECTRIFICATIONS STILL GROW

Returning to the data of July, on the front of users there is a sharp decline among individuals but in line with the general trend of the month. The overall share reaches 61.8%. Self-registrations are yielding over half & agrave; of volumes, stopping at 10.4% share in the month. Long-term rental loses 12% on 2019 and 10% on 2020, settling at a share of 17%. The only growing channel is the short-term rental that doubles the volumes registered compared to 2019, closing the month with a 4.8% share.

Looking at the data from the point of view of engines, cars are still very good electrified . Hybrids rise to 29.4% of share, Plug-ins reach 5.6% of share and electric ones reach 4.6%. There was a sharp decline in petrol, diesel and methane which reached 27.4%, 22.7% and 2%, respectively, in the month. Good GPL with 8.4% share.

As for the car group numbers , there is no; a lot to say since the data are strongly negative with some minor meanings. Stellantis, for example, is down by 31.91%. The Volkswagen Group, on the other hand, ends the month with a -22.46%. Bad for the Renault Group with a drop of even 40.64%. Among the few positive signs, that of the BMW Group which closed July with a slight growth (+ 3%).

These numbers are therefore largely negative. With the arrival of the new incentive fund it will be interesting to discover the results of the month of August to understand if it will be possible to watch a shoot.
