Police spokesman Mariusz Ciarka confirmed to the Polish TV broadcaster that the computer specialist had been dismissed because he had been using the power grid and IT systems at the headquarters in Warsaw for ” illegal Bitcoin mining operations “.

The public prosecutor's office has already started investigations against this “civilian” and the systems are safe again.

The bases are safe. We did not find a connection via the internal network, i.e. the police data transmission network.

In the post on TVN24, which is available as a stream on the website, the police emphasize that no sensitive data has been published through the mining of crypto currencies. Even if Bitcoin is mentioned several times in the article, mining via graphics cards is more likely to be Ethereum, which has been “mined” with the help of improper police systems.

Serious consequences for possible accomplices

As the Warsaw police further explained,“ another person involved in the incident ”is about to be dismissed. So the IT specialist had an accomplice, but the police did not comment on him. Unfortunately, the whole thing “happened in the rooms of the police”, which was able to clear up the matter “very quickly”, the police spokesman concluded.
