When Andreas Danman was buried in Gothenburg yesterday, among others, Acting National Police Chief Mats Löfving, Säpo Chief Klas Friberg and Regional Police Chief in West Klas Johansson participated. But Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and the rest of the government shone with their absence.

This is something that is now being questioned on social media, and the Sweden Democrat Member of Parliament Björn Söder last night asked the Prime Minister a written question about why he did not go to the funeral. .

“Why did the Prime Minister choose not to attend the funeral of the murdered policeman, or to ensure that another minister attended, to show the government's participation in the grief and respect for the services he performed for the Swedish state?”, Reads the written question.

One explanation for Löfven not attending may be that the funeral was private. No representatives from the city of Gothenburg participated in the ceremony, at least not officially. However, the municipality sent flowers to it.

The funeral was held in Vasakyrkan in Gothenburg, which can usually take up to 1,500 seated visitors. Due to the corona pandemic, however, only 125 people were able to attend yesterday's funeral in the church, but thanks to the ceremony being sent live to the Swedish Fair, several hundred more could follow it from there.

Later in the afternoon, after the funeral, a memorial ceremony at the veteran monument in Färjenäs on Hisingen. That ceremony was open to all to attend.
