“Changed sex” on fish using soy

Abroad. A Japanese research team has used a substance found in soybeans to turn all moths in a group into females, writes Nya Dagbladet.

These are so-called isoflavones, which the Japanese used to make all fish have properties similar to female males.

The females weigh more than the males and therefore have better properties as food.

During the study at Kindai University in central Japan, the researchers succeeded in using the isoflavones to create a group of only female fish.
