At the end of last year, Philips introduced the Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip. This was the first light hose from Philips Hue in which multiple colors can be displayed at the same time. But this Hue Play light hose is intended for televisions, with which you add a kind of Ambilight effect to your television in combination with Hue Sync. Now the good news is that an everyday multicolored light strip is also on the way, called the Hue Gradient Lightstrip Ambiance.

Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip Ambiance is on the way

The German Hue website Hueblog shares the first images of the upcoming light hose. The new Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip Ambiance is two meters long and has the unique feature that it can show multiple colors at the same time. The current standard light strips from Philips Hue support up to 16 million colors, but only one can be displayed at a time. So with the new upcoming Gradient version you can create atmosphere in a new way with just a single light hose.

It is still unclear how many different colors the light hose can show at the same time. In any case, it concerns a total of 16 million colors. Just like the standard versions, the new light hose has a self-adhesive back, so that you can easily stick it under, for example, a kitchen cupboard, behind a desk or along a stairwell. We don't yet know what the exact brightness will be.

In addition to the standard version, an extension of one meter will also be available. You can therefore easily expand the light hose. The new Hue Gradient Lightstrip Ambiance would cost around £130, as opposed to £80 for the regular version without multi-colored light. The extensions would cost about ’60.- each.

Dynamic scenes in the Hue app

The new light hose uses the dynamic scenes in the Hue app. Philips has already announced that there will soon be an update for the app with support for dynamic scenes, in which the colors in different transitions blend into each other.

When the new multi-colored light hose will be available is not yet known. Presumably it will be available in the course of the fall, sometime from September. Philips Hue usually announces new products at the end of August or early September, around the IFA tech fair. Philips Hue will soon also be introducing new filament candle lamps and lamps with 1600 lumens.
