Hyundai is investing heavily in Fuel Cell development and is pursuing an ambitious project in the heavy transport sector which led to the launch of the XCIENT Fuel Cell truck which is already arrived in Europe, starting from Switzerland. The plans of the Korean manufacturer, however, are not limited to the Old Continent. In fact, Hyundai wants to bring this model also to America . Precisely for this reason, the brand has announced its strategy to introduce its Fuel Cell trucks on the roads of California .

These vehicles already have; covered over a million kilometers in Europe, proving their reliability. The model that will be brought to America offers a maximum range of 500 miles or about 800 kilometers . This is a longer mileage than that of the European version thanks to the presence of hydrogen tanks of greater capacity. The car company will exploit & agrave; two publicly funded projects to introduce its XCIENT Fuel Cell trucks to the American market.

County Transportation Commission and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

Funds that will be used to carry out the NorCAL ZERO project by Hyundai (Zero-Emission Regional Truck Operations with Fuel Cell Electric Trucks). Glovis America, a logistics service provider, will manage the fleet of these fuel cell vehicles. The consortium also plans to build a hydrogen refueling station in Oakland, California, which will be; capable of supporting up to 50 trucks.

The second project, on the other hand, received a $ 500,000 grant from the South Coast Air Quality Management District to test two Fuel Cell trucks in Southern California. The experimentation involves the use of these vehicles for long-haul transport operations between the country's warehouses for a period of 12 months. Hyundai will collaborate also with First Element Fuel (FEF), to use three hydrogen refueling stations. The activities should start in August.
