We've written about the iPad mini a lot lately. All kinds of specs of the iPad mini 2021 have even been leaked. But one specification that hasn't come out recently was the screen size. Display analyst Ross Young now reveals what the screen size of the iPad mini 2021 will be.
‘iPad mini 2021 gets 8.3-inch display
The screen of the current iPad mini has been measuring 7.9 inches since the very first model. According to the analyst, the new iPad mini 6 will have an 8.3-inch screen. So that's almost half an inch bigger. The growth in the display format is realized by, among other things, narrower screen edges and the disappearance of the home button. Thanks to the new design, which is similar to the iPad Air and iPad Pro, there is more room for a larger display without the device itself getting bigger.
Almost a year ago there were some vague rumors that the iPad mini would get a bigger screen. There was talk of 9- and 8.4-inch, but it seems to be moving more towards the 8.3-inch. The same analyst also says there will be no mini-LED in the new iPad mini, contrary to what was previously claimed by Digitimes. Apple will therefore probably use LCD, or Liquid Retina LCD. This screen can also be found in the iPad Air 2020.
The iPad mini 2021 will probably be announced in September and is the first new iPad mini in two and a half years. The current model is from March 2019 and introduced a faster chip and support for the Apple Pencil.
