Interplay Entertainment: Game developer and publisher announces comeback

The US game developer and publisher Interplay Entertainment, founded in 1983 as Interplay Productions and known for game series such as The Bard's Tale, Fallout and Wasteland, is aiming for July 28th Comeback after the company had largely disappeared from the scene in 2004.

Interplay is celebrating a revival

The studio, which is responsible for the development and/or distribution of numerous games such as Battle Chess (1988), Warcraft: Orcs & amp; Humans (1994), Descent (1995) and Dungeon Master II (1995) as well as Normality (1996), Atomic Bomberman (1997) and Redneck Rampage (1997) announced a “new Interplay”.

The “old” Interplay had filed for bankruptcy in 2004. But Interplay was not completely gone.

Already in August 2012, Interplay announced the revival of the in-house Black Isle Studios, which deals with the realization and distribution of new ones Role-playing.

In June 2013, the company acquired the trademark rights to the two space simulations Conflict: Freespace and Freespace 2 from THQ for 7,500 US dollars. In October 2021 there should be news again under the Interplay brand.
