The spectacular action in St. Petersburg, staged by a notorious flash mob group, became known on Tuesday when local news agencies drew attention to a clip from the event.

The video shows three characters dressed as the Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Sergey Brin, co-founders of Google who also own Youtube. One of the activists, Maria Rein, says the aim is to protest against big business attacks on freedom of expression. “These modern IT companies are starting to control people's consciousness more and more,” he said. According to the authority, the platform “more often than other foreign services restricts access to material from Russian media”.

“A total of about 30 cases of censorship of Russian publications and information resources have been identified”, states Roskomnadzor.
