There is much discussion about the safety of electric scooters, so much so that in Italy we are working on new rules for their correct use, especially at the 39; inside the sharing services . A solution to this problem could come from Superpedestrian , the company & agrave; a spin-off engineering company from MIT in Boston who designed LINK , one of the most popular electric scooters; advanced in circulation. This company & agrave; announced that it has acquired the startup Navmatic which developed the Pedestrian Defense security system.
It is a solution that, according to what has been said, “is not limited to detecting risky behaviors, but stops them in real time to prevent any serious injuries”. This system is based on the patented Super Fusion technology, which combines different sources of data in real time on the dynamics of the vehicle to obtain a complete control of the fleet of electric scooters. On paper, this security solution should be able to solve the critical issues; of micro-mobility which today are often the subject of discussion.
HOW DOES IT WORK? 
Superpedestrian & agrave integrer; within its Pedestrian Defense fleet which will detect; and will correct & agrave; in real time risk behaviors. Think, for example, of driving in the wrong direction, repeated abrupt braking, excessive steering and much more. In such scenarios, the scooter will slow down. or it will even stop . Users will be warned that they are violating the rules through light and sound notifications.
At the end of each ride, people will receive a sort of & quot; safety score & quot ;. This score will be; used to provide personalized security training via app and SMS. If driving improves over time, users will receive discounts on future rides. To all those who adopt a dangerous guide, however, it will not be; more allowed to use the electric scooter.
The new platform also allows for in-depth information on security conditions, to identify, for example, the most important places; subject to misconduct. It also allows you to generate collision reports that they provide to the authorities; detailed information in the event of an accident. Assaf Biderman , CEO of Superpedestrian, commented:
