ASML has delivered the first EUV exposure machine of the new generation, alias NXE: 3600D. This rides on the wave of success, this year the manufacturer expects a total growth of 35 percent. With sales of over 4 billion euros, the second quarter already showed where the journey is headed.

Above all, this becomes visible in other places, which is why the success of ASML can hardly be stopped. In the last quarter ASML saw more new orders than ever before, the books are filled with orders worth an additional 8.3 billion euros. New orders for EUV exposure systems account for 4.9 billion euros. These are no longer only used in the logic area as at TSMC and Samsung, the memory manufacturers are getting into the business. Three DRAM manufacturers are customers of ASML.

And so the only manufacturer of these machines is raising its annual growth forecast from the previously high 30 percent to 35 percent. The storage sector in particular has its share, 60 percent growth is currently forecast for this year. Of the new orders with a value of 4.7 billion euros, only around one billion have been for EUV systems so far – but more will follow, ASML CEO Peter Wennink is certain.

More EUV systems every year

55 EUV systems to be delivered are aiming for ASML for the coming year, 80 percent of the possible slots are already booked. In 2023, the production capacity is expected to increase to 60 systems per year, ASML currently sees no end. Nine systems were delivered in the last quarter.

The new system NXE: 3600D will help with the marketing of EUV. It is said to be up to 20 percent more productive in the customers' factories than the previous NXE: 3400C and offer many other advantages in other areas. It is not known what this will cost customers more, but it should become clearer in the course of the upcoming quarterly reports. Most recently, the price had already climbed to almost 180 million euros per EUV system.
