In the last year, the division N of Hyundai is; has grown a lot by launching several new models including the Kona N and the Veloster N. The next step in this division will be; the same as the parent company and that is; electrification. This is not an absolute novelty; as already in the past there was speculation of an electric Hyundai N based on the E-GMP platform. A report by Car Magazine adds some details.

According to the report, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 (Our proof here) would be the number one candidate to be offered in a high performance N version and it seems the manufacturer already has; started working on it. There you can & ograve; wait for the launch to take place during 2022. The platform on which the car rests is; already designed to support high powers. Moreover, this architecture is; also used for the Kia EV6 GT which can & ograve; count on 430 kW.

Given the relationship between the IONIQ 5 and the EV6 & egrave; It is possible that the N variant of the Hyundai model could have the same powertrain with double electric motor as the EV6 GT. A possible N variant would also have specific design changes with a dedicated aerodynamic kit also to make the car much more; scrappy. There will probably be & agrave; the 72.6 kWh battery pack (usable) but given the increase in performance the autonomy should be slightly lower than that of the current version with double electric motor (430 km).

A Hyundai IONIQ 5 N could be an interesting model on paper. If it arrives, it will have to be on the market. go and compete with cars of the caliber of the Kia EV6 GT and the Mustang Mach-E GT, just to name a couple. Obviously, like all reports, the contents must be taken with due caution.

All that remains is to be patient to see if next year we will really see a high-performance version of the IONIQ 5 hit the streets.
