With the supposedly “uncensored” Freedom Phone, Bitcoin millionaire and Trump supporter Erik Finman wants to bring back “free speech” to Americans and return “control” over their communication. The basis for the extremely patriotically marketed smartphone is a very inexpensive “China Phone”.

Real “US patriots” should be on China Phone set

Erik Finman has presented a smartphone of the same name through his company Freedom Phone (FP), which in addition to an “uncensored” FreedomOS operating system, a so-called “Free-Speech First Operating System ”based on Android 10, as well as its own“ uncensible ”app store and should give US patriots their freedom.

Why the manufacturer uses the Umidigi A9 Pro , which has already been tested by the Chinahandys.net website, uses a cheap smartphone from China equivalent to 100 euros, does not reveal itself even on closer inspection. The Freedom Phone corresponds 1: 1 to the Chinese smartphone from Shenzhen.

The 6.3-inch smartphone with a resolution of 2,380 × 1,080 pixels in FHD + is based on a Helio P60 from MediaTek, which is supported by 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of permanent storage. An ARM Mali G72 MP3 GPU takes care of the image output, and its ISP is also responsible for the 32 MP quad camera setup.

Patriotism has its price

Erik Finman, who repeatedly raised his voice for the former US President Donald Trump in the US election campaign, and his company make the supposed security cost a lot. While the Umidigi A9 Pro can be purchased on the AliExpress platform for around US $ 119.99, pre-orders for the Freedom Phone must pay US $ 499.99.

The total of ten “Buy now” buttons on the official website do not make the offer any more serious. The first deliveries of the Freedom Phone should take place in August.

For the price called, there are preinstalled apps from the conservative to right-wing extremist spectrum such as Parler or the opinion-makers' news app by Newsmax, who like to spread statements by Donald Trump as facts.

YouTube channels such as “LaterClips” and “Linux Lounge” meanwhile even consider the Freedom Phone to be a so-called advance fraud (Scam).
