Apple donates after floods

Severe floods have ensured that in the Netherlands, Belgiumë and Germany many people had to be evacuated, lost their homes or lost. In a tweet, Tim Cook promises that the company will donate money to funds that help victims in the affected areas. He speaks about “Germany, Belgiumë and Western Europe”. The amount was not disclosed.

Cook writes:

Our condolences go out to all victims of the devastating floods in Germany, Belgiumë and Western Europe. Apple will make a donation to support the relief efforts,

The densely populated border areas have been particularly affected, deep into Germany, where countless people have gone missing, become homeless or have died. It is therefore an exceptional situation. At least 125 people have died and tens of thousands are without electricity and drinking water. In addition, hundreds of people were lost.

If you want to donate money from the Netherlands to help the victims of the flooding in Limburg, the National Disaster Fund Giro 777 has opened up for this. More than 780,000 euros has already been raised for Limburg. The last time Giro 777 was opened was after the fireworks disaster in Enschede in 2000.

Apple often donates to major disasters, including a blizzard in Texas last February. In 2020, Apple donated a “substantial amount” to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, among other things by making mouth masks and medical devices available. In 2018, $1 million went to victims of the Kerala floods in India, as well as a significant amount to relief efforts after the Sulawesi earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia. Domestically, money was donated in 2018 and 2019 after wildfires in California.
