For the first time, Xiaomi ranks second among the world's largest smartphone manufacturers. After the company was able to overtake Apple in terms of smartphone sales at the end of 2020, but was behind Samsung and Huawei, sales continue to grow enormously and now secure second place.

Xiaomi increases by 83 percent

According to surveys by Canalys, Xiaomi's growth in the area of smartphones in the second quarter of 2021 is well above the average of 83 percent. Xiaomi is again benefiting from Huawei's falling sales figures, which are no longer even in the top 5 of the largest smartphone manufacturers as a result of the sanctions imposed by the US government. However, the growth is not only due to falling sales of Huawei, but also to an expansion into more and more markets. In Latin America the increase is 300, in Africa 150 and in Western Europe 50 percent.

Sales price well below Samsung and Apple

Compared to Samsung and Apple, the selling price of Xiaomi smartphones is on average 40 and 70 percent below these two. With smartphones like the Mi 11 Ultra (test), the manufacturer is already trying to focus more on more expensive models.
