500 electric gets 5 stars in Green NCAP tests

The new 500 electric passes with flying colors the tests carried out by Green NCAP which aim to evaluate consumption and emissions. The battery-powered city car was awarded 5 stars . Like all purely electric vehicles, there are no exhaust emissions, so the car scores top points in the Clean Air Index and Greenhouse Gas Index. Energy efficiency is great but there are other electric vehicles, Green NCAP points out, that do better. In any case, this model is & egrave; deserved the 5 stars. It should be noted, however, that the current test protocol considers only direct emissions and not indirect emissions that may derive, for example, from the production of electricity.

To evaluate the efficiency, the electric 500 (here our test), & egrave; been tested in conditions of low and high temperatures. The worst results were obtained in particularly cold environments with the temperature at minus 7 degrees (25.8 kWh/100 km). On the motorway, consumption stood at 25.5 kWh/100 km.

Consumption of 17.8 kWh/100 km in the test with hot start and an ambient temperature of 14 and 19 degrees, 3 kWh/100 km in the test with cold start and ambient temperature of 14 degrees.

According to what you can & ograve; read from the results, the average autonomy is around 230 km . In the worst cases it goes down to 182 km. Green NCAP points the finger at the on-board charger of just 7.4 kW judged to be too slow and inefficient.

HONDA JAZZ AND PEUGEOT 208

The electric 500 is not; was the only car tested. In fact, Green NCAP also rated the Honda Jazz Hybrid and the Peugeot 208 with the 100 bhp (74 kW) 1.5 BlueHDi. For the Japanese there are 3 and a half stars. In particular, it should be noted that the & quot; small & quot; Honda has obtained a score of 7 out of 10 in terms of efficiency, thanks to the presence of the hybrid system. The values of NOx and CO emissions are contained.

The model of the French manufacturer, on the other hand, obtained 3 stars. Worth noting is the score of 7.2 out of 10 in terms of efficiency, with an average fuel consumption of 4.6 l/100 km. NOx and particulate emissions are not good.
