According to the rumours, published by DigiTimes, owners of the iPhone 13 should be able to surf the web even better with WiFi 6E. This device is expected in September 2021.
WiFi 6E in the iPhone 13
Although nothing has been confirmed until the moment of the announcement, the move to WiFi 6E seems logical . It is the new standard in the field of wireless internet and builds on the WiFi 6 standard that the iPhone 11 already supports. Still, the world won't suddenly change if the new iPhone gets a WiFi 6E antenna.
WiFi 6E allows you to transfer more data wirelessly over the new 6GHz frequency band. That only works well at shorter distances without walls, so one router is not suitable for a large house. The WiFi 6E standard still offers support for the now well-known 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands.
When it comes to using the iPhone, you should expect less lag with FaceTime, WiFi calling, and transferring large files, such as downloading a game. Of course it is important that the sending party also has a good connection.
Not yet the standard
Before you can use a certain WiFi standard, must support both your device and the router. Not everyone immediately buys a new router for every new WiFi standard. At the moment there are only announcements of such routers and they will cost hundreds of euros once they go on sale. It will therefore take some time until WiFi 6E is common, but since iPhones last a relatively long time, it would be a good development if Apple already responds to this.
