Blizzard has drawn conclusions from the closed alpha test of the revised new edition of the action role-playing game Diablo 2. One of the consequences of the feedback collected is to enlarge the box in which players can store their loot.

The box in the base camp, which all characters of a player share and can use to exchange their loot, is expanded to three tabs with 100 slots each. In view of the chronically shortage of space in a game that thrives on the hunt for the rare, the expansion basically seems imperative. Other changes are also made for convenience. This includes an option with which the names of objects on the battlefield can be (de) activated by pressing a button. In the original, the names were displayed when the button was pressed continuously, this option also remains.

Larger fonts, an interface that scales with the resolution and the automatic collection of gold are also offered. In addition, there is now the option of showing a clock on the screen – so that the hunt for prey does not completely forget the time. Blizzard has also adjusted the readability of the Automap as well as the display of effects of spells, status effects of monsters and the colors of objects in order to improve visibility and legibility.

It should stay authentic

In all of this, Blizzard is aware that there are peculiarities and mechanics that are out of style or outdated these days add to the gameplay of the original. This should be preserved in an authentic form, emphasize the developers, everything cannot and should not be modernized. Blizzard has already proven a knack for such decisions with the remaster of StarCraft.

Diablo 2 Resurrected is not yet in its final form. The announcement of changes is preceded by a reference to ongoing work. The remaster should be released in just over two months on September 23, 2021 for the PC and popular game consoles.
