Since the start on 27 December 2020 and until 14 July, 5,747,869 people in Sweden have received at least one dose of covid-19 vaccine, of which 3,682,574 have also received a second dose.
This means that 70.2 percent of everyone over the age of 18 has received a dose and that 45 percent has now received a second dose. This is shown by data from the National Vaccination Register.
– We have come a long way with vaccination coverage in Sweden and it means a lot to reduce the spread of infection and to be able to keep it at a low level, says Anders Tegnell, state epidemiologist at the Swedish Public Health Agency.
By mid-June, 51 percent of all 18-year-olds and older had received at least one dose of covid-19 vaccine, and more than a quarter had been vaccinated with two doses.
Young people born in 2005 or earlier must be offered vaccination against covid-19 in Sweden from week 32. The Swedish Public Health Agency estimates that most regions will then have the opportunity to continue vaccinating the younger ones after phase 4.
