The phenomenon of car theft is; returned to grow in Italy , after the setback recorded in the most important phase; acute pandemic. This was revealed by the new study by LoJack Italia, a company; engaged in the development of telematics solutions for the automotive industry.
In the first five months of 2021, thefts increased by 25 percent compared to the same period last year and & egrave; the percentage of recovery of stolen cars in Italy decreased (38 per cent). To have a reference, in the last decade the traces of 1 million vehicles have been lost: 682,000 are cars, the remaining part is; composed of cars, motorcycles, light commercial vehicles and heavy vehicles. SUVs remain one of the most important categories; coveted, a substantial portion, 25 percent, is stolen using a technological device – either by reprogramming the key or by relay attack.
Despite having suffered a halt last year , the phenomenon & egrave; however, it was relevant with 102,708 thefts and 38 percent of cars recovered . 66,110 cars were stolen. Two out of three were not recovered. The stolen vehicles are destined for sales in foreign markets – in particular Eastern Europe and North Africa – or used to fuel the spare parts market.
