MagSafe Battery Pack for iPhone 12
The MagSafe Battery Pack is available immediately for 109 euros at the Apple Store. You stick it on the back of devices from the iPhone 12 series. It is suitable for all models, from the iPhone 12 mini to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Compared to previous models, there is no longer a case attached to it, so that you can continue to use this Battery Pack even when you switch to a new iPhone.
The MagSafe Battery Pack is magnetically attached to the back of the device and can be charged with a Lightning cable. You can also charge a connected iPhone at the same time. Apple recommends using at least a 20 Watt USB-C charger so that charging goes smoothly. The first copies will be delivered from next week and you need at least iOS 14.7 on your device.
The Battery Pack charges your iPhone with 5 Watt on the go, so it's not really fast. You can view the battery status via a widget. If you use the Battery Pack, your iPhone will only be charged to 90%. To continue charging, open the Control Panel and tap the battery icon to indicate that you wish to continue charging to 100%. The MagSafe Battery Pack itself has an output of 1460mAh or 11.13Wh.
There were already batteries that you can stick on the back of your iPhone 12, including from Xtorm (review) and Zens, but they are only ‘MagSafe compatible’. Apple's proprietary battery is the first official power bank to stick to the back of your iPhone and is also ‘MagSafe Certified’ is.
