Rumor: 'MacBook Pro 2021 has up to 32GB RAM and fast SD card slot'

Quick SD card slot in MacBook Pro

It has been said several times that the new MacBook Pro M1X will be equipped with an SD card slot for memory cards. This is the first since 2015, when Apple scrapped the SD card slot in an effort to make increasingly thinner laptops. Now that the sides are becoming a bit flatter, there is room for extra connections again and Apple seems to want to take advantage of this. AppleTrack rumored Luke Miani claims that the SD card slot will receive support for the super-fast UHS-II. This allows speeds of up to 312 Mbps, while speeds of 100 Mbps are common with a traditional SD card slot. It is backward compatible, so you can also use UHS-I cards. Such memory cards have been available for years, including from SanDisk.

For photographers and video makers, the addition of UHS-II will be a big plus, so that they can transfer files quickly. Previously, Miani also claimed that the Touch ID button is illuminated, thanks to multiple LEDs.

’32GB RAM in the MacBook Pro’

Miani also claims in his video that the new MacBook Pro 2021 comes with up to 32GB RAM can become. This contradicts Bloomberg's previous claims that you can configure up to 64GB of RAM. The current Macs with the M1 chip are limited to 16GB of RAM, but in practice it has already been shown that you can use Apple Silicon with relatively little working memory, even for somewhat heavier applications. For the larger 16-inch MacBook Pro, Apple will have to increase this slightly and for the Mac Pro there may be a separate solution.

The full video of Miani can be seen below.
