The Volkswagen Group and Enel X have announced the establishment of a joint venture to accelerate the spread of electric vehicles in Italy through the creation of a capillary high-power charging infrastructure (HPC) . This is a truly ambitious project that could allow the car energy supply network in Italy to make that qualitative leap; that many are waiting for. In fact, the joint venture will work to install over 3,000 charging points HPC (up to 350 kW) in the country which will be located in approximately 700 locations; by 2025.
GOODBYE TO AUTONOMY ANXIETY
As for the sites chosen for the installation of this infrastructure, the joint venture will concentrate; on city centers and main and more urban and extra-urban roads; busy. With this project the aim is to reduce the autonomy anxiety of electric users during long journeys and to help all those who cannot have a private charging point to connect their vehicle to.
The interesting thing is; that it will not be about & agrave; of a & quot; closed & quot; network as will be; open to all electric cars . This project is part of a pi & ugrave; a broad initiative by the German group that aims to install 18,000 high-power charging points throughout Europe. The two companies mothers will provide the fundamental skills for the selection of sites, installation and their management in order to accelerate the creation of the network of recharging points. Francesco Venturini , CEO of Enel X, said:
We share with Volkswagen a common vision on the global electrification of transport, therefore a partnership with them is; was natural: the energy transition requires teamwork. The automotive industry and the energy sector of the EU have the experience and the means to make it happen. that the energy transition takes place as much as possible; quickly as possible, along the electrification of transport as one of the main routes. Towards this goal, we are joining forces with Volkswagen and the entire automotive sector in the design and implementation of mobility solutions. that are accessible and convenient for all drivers, as well as being safe and sustainable.
Thomas Schmall , Member of the Board of Directors of Volkswagen AG with responsibility; for Technology and CEO of Volkswagen Group Components, added:
Volkswagen's goal is; to upgrade the charging infrastructures all over the world. The joint venture with Enel X will installer & agrave; more of 3,000 high-power charging points in approximately 700 locations. This is serious; a big step for e-Mobility in Italy and Europe. By 2025, Volkswagen's initiatives will provide 18,000 high-power charging points across the continent – this makes up a third of the high-power charging infrastructure needed in Europe. Drivers of any Volkswagen electric vehicle and any type of electric vehicle from other manufacturers can benefit from these initiatives.
