Cooler Master MM730 & MM731: Ergonomic gaming mice weighing less than 50 grams

With two ergonomic right-handed mice, Cooler Master follows the trend towards low weight. The MM730 is a particularly light wired input device, while the somewhat heavy MM731 transmits – optionally with 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth. There is no information about availability.

A lightweight among lightweights

With a weight of only 48 grams, the – admittedly quite small – MM731 is not only lighter than most competing ergonomic gaming mice – including Glorious & apos; Model D- (test), Razer's DeathAdder V2 Mini (test) or Roccats Kone Pure Ultra (test), but one of the lightest mice ever. The small MM720 (test) is also undercut, albeit very narrowly. Whether such a low mass really results in better usability in a palm grip mouse is at least doubtful; The result is impressive in any case: This time, Cooler Master doesn't even have to use holes in the ABS plastic housing, but it even uses RGB light-emitting diodes.

Apart from that, the specifications of the mouse read themselves familiar: Once again, PixArts PMW-3389 and opto-mechanical primary keys from LK use high-end hardware. To mention that a flexibly wrapped cable and mouse feet made of pure PTFE are also installed seems almost superfluous in view of this – all four characteristics will be high standard in 2021.

The MM731, which is marginally heavy at 59 grams, relies on PixArt's PAW-3370. According to initial tests, the newer sensor offers an equal precision, but comes with a noticeably lower power consumption – an extremely welcome feature, especially for wireless mice. According to Cooler Master, the MM731 with its 500 mAh battery achieves a runtime of 72 hours with deactivated lighting and 2.4 GHz radio; when switching to Bluetooth, it is 190 hours, but – as usual – with eight times the latency. The included USB-A-to-USB-C cable is used for charging.

Availability remains a question mark

It remains to be seen when the MM730 and MM731 will be available at what prices. Neither of the two models is currently listed in the price comparison, although the Cooler Masters press release does not provide any information. MM710 and MM720 cost around 60 euros according to the RRP, a similar price can therefore also be expected for the MM730.
