Domestic. This year, most people choose to holiday at home, or somewhere in the country – not infrequently in their own or rented cottage. Many will spend more money on summer holidays in Sweden than before, a survey shows.

Traveling within the country, or spending time in your own or rented cottage, are some of the most common answers. But the vast majority choose to stay at home. More than one in four (27 percent) will not travel anywhere, but only intend to stay at home this summer. And 13 percent go on hiking holidays.
– Lots of Swedes holiday at home in Sweden this year and there is a wide range of activities that both cost and are free to engage in. A tip is to take a look at the municipal site for tips on activities both close and a little further away. Something we notice is popular is to lace up your boots and hike both shorter and longer distances, says Robin Herzog, communications specialist at If.
Spending time in a summer cottage is very popular. Up to one in five Swedes spend their holiday in their own cottage, and just as many choose to rent a holiday home this summer.
Almost one in five (18 percent) state that they intend to travel abroad. Every sixth Swede chooses to wait with a trip abroad until this autumn or winter, when they have been vaccinated.
30 percent will spend more money on summer holidays in Sweden than they did before the corona pandemic.
