Domestic. Tranås municipality is fighting against Russia to get back a Russian girl who was previously adopted by a Swedish couple, reports Swedish Radio.

The girl was adopted in 2019 by a family in Tranås. But after a year and a half, the adoptive parents returned the child to an orphanage in Russia.
Now the municipality of Tranås demands that Russia send the girl back to Sweden so that the municipality can take care of her.

The municipality refers to the fact that the girl has received Swedish citizenship and that the social services according to the Hague Convention can take care of a child even if the child is abroad.
