The spread of infection and the number of people who need hospital care for covid-19 is decreasing every week. Now almost 70 percent of the adult population has received at least one dose of vaccine.

All in all, according to the government, the state of infection, the burden on healthcare and the degree of vaccination in the population are at a level that means that further restrictions can be lifted. Therefore, the Government and the Public Health Agency have decided to proceed with step 3 of the Government's plan for the abolition of the restrictions.

This applies from 15 July:

The municipalities' ability to ban access to the public, to certain places where congestion may occur are lifted.

The square meter limit that governs how many people are allowed to stay in a certain place at the same time, for example a shop, a gym, an amusement park or a zoo, will be removed. However, businesses must still take measures to avoid congestion and companies must be able to keep their distance from each other. The responsibility for compliance is placed with both the business and the individual.

The size of companies that have designated seats at a public gathering or a public event, such as a football match, is increased from four to eight people. This applies both indoors and outdoors. The party must still be able to keep a distance of at least 1 meter to other companies. In addition, advice is taken on how, for example, amusement parks should place parties in rides. However, visitors must still be able to keep their distance and congestion must be avoided.

The government has also decided to remove passenger restrictions on long-distance public transport.

The next step in the government's decommissioning plan, step 4, is planned for sometime in September. According to the government, in order for the plan for the abolition of restrictions to continue, it is necessary that the spread of infection and the pressure on healthcare is kept down and that the vaccination rate continues to increase.
