Domestic. Of the more than 45,000 people who immigrated to Sweden in the first half of 2021, Indians were the largest group.

A total of 45,340 people immigrated to Sweden during the first half of 2021, according to the Swedish Migration Board's latest statistics.
Of these, 20,515 people are included under the collective term “labor market”, which also includes certain relatives. A total of 5,635 are included under the collective term “asylum”. Nearly half of these, 2,481 people, were so-called “quota refugees”. These have not come to Sweden themselves to seek asylum but have been recruited abroad by the Swedish Migration Board and then flown here.
The largest immigrant group was Indians with 5,154 immigrants. Then follows Thailand with 5,123 immigrants and Syria with 3,261 immigrants. 2,425 people came from Ukraine. The fifth largest group consisted of Pakistanis and consisted of 2,019 people. 1,630 people immigrated from Iraq and 1,453 from China. 1,373 people came from Iran and 1,369 from Turkey. The largest African immigrant group consisted of Eritreans with 1,173 immigrants. Other countries with more than 1,000 immigrants were Afghanistan with 1,109 and the USA with 1,106.
Even the Riksdag's most immigration-critical party, the Sweden Democrats, are now very positive about labor immigration with the main motivation that Sweden is a small and export-dependent country.
