In the weekly App Missed section you can read which apps from the past week are worth checking out. We always discuss about five apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac. These could be apps that you may not have known about or that are useful or just funny to try. And that can also be veterans who have received a major update and therefore receive some extra attention.
Discussed earlier this week on iCulture:
- Plipper in the Google app: view this easter egg!
- Pokémon GO exists 5 years and that should be celebrated
- Audacity 3.0: New Owner Appears Hungry for Data
iCulture App of the Week: Brickit This app uses impressive technology. With Brickit you can scan a lot of loose LEGO blocks, after which the app comes up with what you could build with them. Very interesting for LEGO fans who always have loose blocks and don't know what to do with them.
After the scan, Brickit gives you an overview of everything you can build. It states which blocks you need and whether you are still missing something. Also interesting: if you opt for a design, you will simply receive the building instructions. If the app wants you to use a block that you can't find, Brickit will show you where it is in your stack. Brickit is completely free and contains no ads.
The Sky
Are you interested in the universe or do you want to teach someone else about it? Then The Sky might be for you. The app is aimed at beginners who have no prior knowledge about the universe. The Sky teaches you about stars, planets, moons, satellites and astronomical phenomena. You can also see what will happen tonight. Nearly all objects also have an easy-to-understand explanation. In short: are you interested in the universe and do you have little or no prior knowledge? Then download The Sky.
Tweet Catcher
Twitter is used for all kinds of purposes: following the news, watching fun animal videos, getting in touch with colleagues and so on. Because the medium can be used so varied, it is useful if you can also store tweets sorted. The official Twitter app now only lets you save tweets without further categorizing them. With Tweet Catcher you can do that easily. The app lets you create and search folders. That way you won't lose a tweet from weeks ago.
Baba Is You
Don't like to follow rules that are imposed? Then this game is for you. In Baba Is You you determine the rules of the puzzle. The purpose of each puzzle is different and you will only achieve it by adjusting certain game rules. These rules are disguised as blocks that you must touch. As you progress through the game, there are multiple outcomes and you can change the rules.
Vibe
On dating apps like Tinder, we all know the familiar ‘swiping’ to approve another person. Dating app Vibe is trying to put an end to that. You fill in your interests and preferences on your profile and try to link yourself to the right one. If you both find each other interesting, Vibe will present a location for a date. You just have to agree. With Vibe you have less freedom of choice, but that can also make dating a bit easier and more carefree.
