Philips Hue regularly unveils new products, usually in the spring and fall. Around September, the new products are usually announced at the IFA trade show, and it looks like they will be this year as well. The German website Hueblog writes that Philips Hue has a series of new products in the planning for September. For example, there will be a smaller filament lamp in the form of the well-known candle lamp and existing White & Color Ambiance lamps a lot brighter.

‘New Philips Hue filament lamps in candle lamp and White Ambiance’

Filament lamps are popular lamps that are mainly used in glass fixtures. They are so-called vintage lamps where the ‘filament’ to be visible. Currently, Philips Hue has three variants and also in different sizes. Current filament lamps can only show one shade of white, but are dimmable. But the new versions of the Standard, Edison and Globe filament lamps also come in White Ambiance, so you can show multiple shades of white. Competitive brands that also have filament lamps have been supporting this for some time now.

There will also be a completely new version of the filament lamp. In September, a smaller candle lamp in filament version would also become available. This has the smaller E14 fitting and is especially suitable for hanging lamps on the ceiling, for example, where there is no lampshade. This smaller candle lamp in filament version is currently only available in the White version, so with one shade of white light.

‘Philips Hue color lamps get brighter: up to 1600 lumens’

The website Hueblog also writes that Philips will release new versions of the standard colored lamps with a higher brightness. Currently, the color E27 Hue bulbs have a lumen count of 806, but in the future version this will be increased to 1100 lumens. So that is a lot brighter than you are used to from Philips Hue. In addition, there will be an even larger version with an even higher brightness, namely 1600 lumens. This large version comes in White as well as White Amiance and White & Color Ambiance.

Due to the higher amount of heat, this brightest lamp is somewhat larger than the current Hue lamps, so it probably does not look equally good in all fixtures. It is not yet known when these lamps will become available and at what price.

‘Lamps with gradients coming up’

Finally, Philips Hue is still working on lamps with gradients, or a color gradient. Currently, a single lamp can only show one color at a time, but with future versions it will also be about gradient shades. Philips Hue is currently already using this technology for the Gradient Lightstrip, but it will eventually come to other lamps as well.
