Corsair 7000D Airflow: Big Tower promises good air exchange

Corsair is building a large case with a lot of space in the form of the 7000D. In addition, the manufacturer promises good ventilation. The addition to the name “Airflow” refers, among other things, to the open areas on the front and lid, which are supposed to promote air exchange.

With a volume of around 80 liters, there is plenty of space in the 7000D. Components are not restricted in their dimensions: There are no limitations that are currently relevant for CPU coolers and graphics cards or power supplies.

The graphics card can also be mounted vertically. It is fastened at the level of the horizontal expansion slots so that there is sufficient distance to the side panel. This makes it easier to supply fresh air to the GPU. There is also enough space to hide cables behind plastic covers. In addition, six 3.5 “HDDs and a maximum of four 2.5” data carriers can be installed. The small data carriers end up behind the mainboard, larger ones in HDD cages on the floor of the tower.

The size also helps with the assembly of radiators. Twelve 120 or seven 140 mm fan slots allow the installation of 360 mm heat exchangers under the cover or 480 mm models behind the front or in front of the right side panel. A PWM repeater allows six fans to be supplied with a control signal via a PWM connection on the mainboard. Three black 140 mm models are included.

Expensive and expensive

Corsair charges around 260 euros for the case in its own web shop. A black and a white version are available, both of which should be delivered in around two weeks. On the other hand, 330 euros are due if the iCUE 7000X version is selected. The surcharge of 70 euros includes four SP140 RGB fans, a Commander Core XT hub for controlling fans and LEDs, and a front and a second side panel made of tinted glass. The equipment on the I/O panel is also generously dimensioned: there are four USB 3.0 ports and a USB Type C slot.
