Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro X: Upgrade brings Nvidia's RTX 3050 Ti to the premium notebook

Xiaomi has given the Mi Notebook Pro X, a 15-inch notebook with a 3.5K OLED display, a more modern graphics card. In the future, next to a CPU from Intel's Tiger Lake H35 family, there will be a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPU in an aluminum chassis. The highlight remains the OLED panel with a resolution of 3,452 × 2,160 pixels.

What will not change with the update for the time being: Notebooks from Xiaomi are not officially available in this country Trade. This no longer applies to smartphones.

Tiger-Lake-Core-i5 and -Core-i7 with 16/32 GB RAM

Most recently, the premium notebook received an upgrade for the CPU in March of this year in the form of Intel's Tiger Lake H35 family (report). A Core i7-11370H (Iris Xe with 96 EUs) and a Core i5-11300H (Iris Xe with 80 EUs) each with four cores and eight threads that clock up to 4.8 GHz and 4.4 GHz respectively have been available since then . Depending on the configuration, there is also 16 GB or 32 GB LPDDR4x RAM with 4,266 MHz. PCIe SSDs with 512 GB and 1 TB are available as mass storage.

In future the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti

Now the manufacturer has modernized the 15-inch model, which weighs at least 1.9 kg, in the dedicated graphics unit, because from now on the Mi Notebook Pro X will be offered with the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPU in addition to the Xe GPU integrated in the processor. The Ampere GA107 GPU offers 2,560 CUDA, 80 Tensor and 20 RT cores and thus supports DXR ray tracing and DLSS. There is currently no information available about the power consumption of the graphics unit (TGP) Xiaomi in the Mi Notebook Pro X allows.

OLED panel with high pixel density and 16:10

The image signals are delivered to an OLED display with an aspect ratio of 16:10, which has a resolution of 3,452 × 2,160 pixels and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. According to the manufacturer, the screen-to-housing ratio is a high 91 percent. The maximum brightness of the OLED panel should be 600 cd/m². The sRGB as well as the DCI-P3 color spectrum is reproduced 100 percent.

Large battery is quickly charged via USB type C

The other features include the connections typical for notebooks with Intel Tiger Lake such as Thunderbolt 4 via USB Type C, two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type A, an HDMI 2.1 output and a fingerprint sensor. In addition, a WLAN module according to Wi-Fi 6 (WLAN 802.11ax) is provided for the connection to networks.

In the 349 × 240 × 17.5-18.5 mm housing, Xiaomi also installs a classic jack socket and stereo speakers, a battery with 80 Wh, with which video playback should be possible for up to 11.5 hours. Charging is via USB C, with fast charging on a 130 watt adapter, 50 percent can be charged in 25 minutes.

From the beginning of July in Available in China

According to the information from China, Xiaomi requires 7,999 for the Mi Notebook Pro X in the currently cheapest configuration with Core i5, 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD in the home market RMB (Chinese yuan), which in this country is the equivalent of around 1,042 euros (excluding taxes). For the more expensive configuration with Core i7, 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD, the retail price is 9,999 RMB (Chinese yuan), the equivalent of just under 1,302 euros (excluding taxes). On July 9th, Xiaomi wants to bring the modernized version of the Mi Notebook Pro X on sale in China.
