The Pavilion Aero 13 is the lightest consumer notebook from HP to date – business devices like the Elite Dragonfly are excluded. HP offers the notebook exclusively with the latest Ryzen 5000 processors from AMD and uses features that come from the business environment, such as a 16:10 display with high resolution.

HP plans to bring the Pavilion Aero 13 onto the market at the end of September at prices starting at 799 euros. In the US, the notebook is expected to start at the beginning of July for 749 US dollars.

Starting weight of 987 grams

HP explains that with the Pavilion Aero 13 the company wants to offer the “premium look and feel” of the more expensive Specter and Envy series in the cheaper Pavilion series. It starts with a starting weight of less than 1 kg, or more precisely 987 grams, including the high-quality construction of the housing, the keyboard that extends to the edge and the display with a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. HP offers the notebook in the matt colors “Pale Rose Gold”, “Warm Gold”, “Ceramic White” and “Natural Silver”.

2,560 × 1,600 pixels on 13.3 inches

The 13.3-inch display comes in 16:10 format and thus offers 160 pixels or 10 percent more vertical space, which can be useful when surfing websites or editing documents in Office apps. The resolution is a high 2,560 × 1,600 pixels, a brightness of 400 cd/m² and a color coverage of 100 percent sRGB should be achieved.

Exclusively with AMD Ryzen 5000U

Only mobile Ryzen 5000 processors from AMD are at work under the hood, including the Ryzen 7 5800U with 8 cores and 16 threads and Vega8 graphics at the top. In the absence of a data sheet, the editors do not yet know which CPU is used in the base model and the capacity up to which RAM and SSD can be configured. Other features include Wi-Fi 6, a fingerprint sensor and a battery life of up to 10.5 hours, which HP determined in MobileMark 2018 under Windows 10. The connections have two USB type A, one USB type C, HDMI, a microSD card reader and 3.5 mm jack.

Notebook should get an update to Windows 11

The notebook will come with Windows 10 at the market launch, but HP is already promising Windows 11, but cannot do 100- Give a percent guarantee: “The Pavilion Aero 13 is expected to be upgradeable to Windows 11 later this year.” The system requirements, which are not very clearly defined by Microsoft, seem to cause uncertainty among OEMs too. Windows 11 has been officially tested by insiders in the dev channel since Monday evening.
