Amac Acquires Apple Premium Reseller Xando Stores

In the Netherlands you had all kinds of chains for years that carried the Apple Premium Reseller (APR) label. The best known names are Amac, iCentre and Xando. After all iCentre stores were taken over in 2017, it is now Xando's turn. It concerns the three stores in Enschede, Zwolle and Nijmegen and the webshop. Xando will now focus on the business market and education.

Amac acquires Xando stores

As of July 1, 2021, the Xando stores will be converted to Amac stores. This means that the best-known APR in the Netherlands has a total of 51 branches throughout the Netherlands. The three stores have an annual turnover of approximately 12 million euros. There is good news for the employees of the Xando stores, because they will start working for Amac from July. The shops will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday to convert everything, so that the doors with the Amac logo can open again from Friday 2 July.

The Xando webshop will also be taken over. For customers, not much changes, except that from 1 July Amac will appear on the receipt. After the shops are open again, you can also go there for repair services from Amac Apple Repair Service.

What about the warranty?
If you recently bought something at a Xando store or in the Xando webshop, your warranty will remain intact. If there is a defect in your iPhone that you bought from Xando, you can contact Amac for that. Orders that have already been placed before are also handled by Amac.

In December 2019, Amac made a similar acquisition. The three ivizi stores in Limburg were then taken over by Amac. With this new acquisition of Xando, there is no other Apple Premium Reseller chain left.

Amac takes over retail activities Apple reseller Xando

Enschede, Nijmegen and Zwolle get Amac store from 1 July

Utrecht, 29 June 2021 – Apple Premium Reseller Amac takes over the three stores of colleague Xando. The consumer website will also be in the hands of Amac. Xando will focus on the business market and education. As a result of the takeover, Amac will have more stores in Enschede, Nijmegen and Zwolle from Thursday 1 July, bringing it to 51 branches in the Netherlands.

The three stores together account for an annual turnover of approximately 12 million euros. The 35 employees of the Xando stores will start working for Amac from July. According to founder and CEO Ed Bindels, little needs to be done to the three new stores. “They are well in line with the Amac style.”

A-locations
For Xando, the acquisition means that the company can focus more on the B2B market and education, traditionally its core business. Owner Iwijn Hendriksen: “We started Xando in 2006 as a party for the business market and as an educational partner. In October that year, retail was added with the opening of the first store in Zwolle. Enschede and Nijmegen followed in 2008 and 2009 respectively. Retail has always performed well, but is really a different branch of sport. Business market and education now make up four fifths of our turnover. We now want to fully focus on that, so we're happy to be able to outsource the retail part to a real retailer like Amac.”

The stores that will be acquired by Amac are all located at prime locations. The 115 square meter store in Enschede is located in the De Klanderij shopping center. In Nijmegen, a 200 square meter Amac will be located on the busy Molenstraat and the 110 square meter store in Zwolle will be located on the Diezerstraat, in the shopping heart of the Overijssel capital. “The acquisition is the final piece of the puzzle that will give Amac full coverage in the east of the country and thus be able to serve our customers throughout the Netherlands”, says Bindels. “All three cities have an important regional service function and did not yet have an Amac store.”

The stores will be closed for conversion next Wednesday and Thursday to reopen as Amac on Friday 2 July. From that moment on, the Amac Apple Repair Service will also be available there.
