Lian Li Odyssey X: Transformer case offers three layout options

The Lian Li Odyssey X qualifies as a “Transformer” not because of its appearance, but its versatility. The Big Tower provides three different operating modes that completely turn the internal layout upside down. The appearance can also be changed in this way.

Slidable pump holder for water cooling

In the standard configuration, which Lian Li calls “Dynamic Mode”, the Odyssey X presents itself as a large midi tower without any major surprises. Fans and radiators fit behind the front and under the cover, additional fans and a large and deep radiator if required on the left side panel. The installation of a water cooling system with a self-made circuit is made easier in all configurations by a displaceable pump bracket.

Dynamic-R-Modus puts connections upwards

The case works differently in “Dynamic-R” mode. Lian Li resolves the “R” with “Rotate” – the inner workings are rotated 90 degrees so that the connections of the mainboard point upwards. This creates space for a maximum of four fans on the bottom of the case, where space is created for deep radiators. In this configuration, additional fans can be placed behind the front. The covers on the front can be turned around in both variants, which changes the design discreetly.

Performance mode rotates the housing by 90 degrees

The structure is changed again in performance mode. Here, the entire housing is rotated 90 degrees compared to the initial configuration. As a result, air vents that were previously on the floor are now presented on the front. In essence, the performance mode is the mesh version of other midi towers. The I/O panel is moved centrally from the top to the front as part of the transformation.

The Odyssey X offers space for coolers and long graphics cards up to 170 or 423 mm. Hard drives move in all three modes behind the mainboard, where three brackets for 3.5/2.5 “HDDs are located.

The case can now be pre-ordered from retailers at a recommended price of around 460 euros in black and silver. According to distributor Caseking, the first copies are expected to be available from August 2nd.
