Soldier Jürgen Conings has been hunted down by Belgian authorities for just over a month, when he swore to make armed resistance to the country's coronary restrictions.

Conings disappeared from a Belgian military base on 17 May . He packed his Audi Q5 full of heavy weapons, including grenade launchers and automatic rifles, and with ammunition enough to wage “a little war”.

In one of the letters, he also threatened to kill the virus researcher Marc Van Ranst, who is behind much of the measures against the spread of infection that have been taken in Belgium.

The huge hunt for Jürgen Conings has received a lot of media attention, where he has been nicknamed “Corona-Rambo”.

Now Belgian police have identified a corpse in the Hoge Kempen National Park and it is stated that it is Coning. It was the mayor of Maaseik himself who found the body, reportedly by chance when he was on a bike ride.

The police state that Jürgen Conings probably took his own life, writes The Brussels Times.

< But his family does not believe that.

– It is not possible that 500 soldiers with dogs could not find him. They killed him, I do not believe Jürgen committed suicide. Do you know Jürgen? We'll do that. What a bizarre coincidence that the mayor of Maaseik only found him, says one of the relatives to De Morgen.
