Well-known smart home brands have already launched wall switches in recent years, including Eve and partners from Philips Hue. But those switches often work on the basis of a neutral wire, while in the Netherlands we usually do not have a neutral wire for switches. Aqara has now announced that the Wall Switch H1 EU and Wireless Switch H1 will be available in Europe.

Aqara Smart Wall Switch H1 EU and Wireless Switch H1

The new Aqara Smart Wall Switch H1 EU comes in two versions: a single button version and a two button version. You build this switch into the wall, as a replacement for your traditional wall switch. It is suitable for both the round European wall sockets and square 86 millimeter versions. As mentioned, you can choose a version with and without neutral wire. The version without neutral wire (no neutral) will be most useful in the Netherlands.

The Wireless Switch H1 is a wireless variant that you can use to control Aqara devices and other HomeKit products. It supports single click, double click, button hold and more. A total of seven actions can be linked to it. The wireless variant has a battery life of five years. Both switches work with the Zigbee 3.0 protocol, but you'll need an Aqara hub that supports it (like the M1S or the M2). In the coming months, the switches will be made available at various Aqara points of sale.

Unfortunately, we understand that the Dutch distributor has no plans yet to sell the European wall switches, but you could always look across the border (for example in Germany). Some stores also ship to the Netherlands. You can find the various points of sale via the Aqara website.
