London like Milan, even better: if the city & agrave; Milanese pu & ograve; boast the title of first city; in Europe to have brought the 5G networks on an underground line – the M4 – the English capital now becomes the first city & agrave; in Europe to be fully covered by the 5G-ready cellular connection . Or rather, it will be; by 2024 , but the works are already; started with the wiring of the Jubilee, Victoria and Northern Line Extension lines and then continue to cover the ticket offices and all the other stop areas.

The London Underground, with all its kilometers of underground tunnels and hundreds of stations, is defined as one of the most important places; offline of the whole UK. From now on it will not be more so & igrave; thanks to the twenty-year concession given to BAI Communications, a leading company in the sector that already has; operates in large cities & agrave; such as New York, Toronto and Hong Kong. Let's start with the LTE network , even if the British government confirms and reiterates that the entire infrastructure will be; built along tunnels and stations to be easily upgradeable to 5G .

The entire London Underground network

The works will also serve to increase the fiber coverage of the city , installing cables along the tunnels until reaching not only the buildings (homes, public and private offices), but also the stops of buses and the street lighting system from a smart city perspective.

It will be the network more & ugrave; advanced to the world of its kind all over the world and will be; available for use by all mobile operators. The infrastructure will be also ready for 5G, enabling seamless upgrade for mobile operators in the future.

Covering the entire London Underground network and related stations is not; a simple work, n & eacute; secondary: before the pandemic there were 5 million people who every day traveled the over 2,000km of the 11 lines that make up the historic Underground, and for this reason the Government has deemed it necessary to fill a gap that is no longer by now; sustainable to offer the possibility; to its citizens and all visitors to be connected for work or leisure purposes even during underground journeys. The works will be carried out outside the opening hours of the network, in order to minimize inconvenience, and will end in 2024.

The installations at the most urgent stations will be particularly urgent; crowded, such as Oxford Circus, Tottenham Court Road, Bank, Euston and Camden Town : here 4G will arrive & agrave; in advance, by the end of 2022.
