Zowie mice have been enjoying great popularity for years, especially in the e-sports sector, but have recently stopped in time. Now, after a long break, Zowie is not only announcing an at least partially new input device, but is also promising an update of the entire mouse portfolio.

Long-awaited adjustments to weight and cable

The EC1 and EC2 are two ergonomic, asymmetrically shaped shooter mice with large and medium dimensions for right-handers. The recently announced EC3-C shrinks the conception and shape of the two big sisters largely unchanged; Despite the small size, Zowie continues to speak of a Palm and Claw-Grip mouse. Aside from the dimensions, there are three other changes, two of which were overdue in view of the shooter mouse developments of the past two years: The new mouse has a flexibly wrapped cable that leaves the mouse at an angle and is relatively light.

p class = “p text-width”>And precisely these two virtues should run through the entire C series, whereby Zowie would like to successively update all currently offered mice, starting with the EC series. The weight of the new generation EC1 will be reduced from 97 to 80 grams without cables, while the EC2 will drop from 90 to 73 grams. The new EC3-C weighs around 70 grams. There are no concrete figures for the other three mouse series yet, but similarly large savings can be expected here. However, Zowie continues to only offer sliding elements made of pure PTFE separately, the C series also remains with black lacquered feet ex works.

A new mouse wheel supplements known technology

Another innovation of the C generation concerns the mouse wheel. Zowie previously built wheels based on mechanical switches with 16 grid points, whereas the new input devices have optical mouse wheels with 24 levels. The latter is standard for most competing products, whereas with regard to the optical signaling it remains unclear for the time being whether the rotary encoder or the middle mouse button is meant. Apart from that, there are no adjustments: All C-Mice will continue to rely on PixArt's first-class PMW-3360 and thus support four specified sensor sensitivities (400, 800, 1,600 & amp; 3,200 cpi) and USB query rates up to 1,000 Hertz.

EC series from the end of July, the rest later

According to Zowie, the EC1-C, EC2-C and EC3-C should reach the European and North American markets by the end of July 2021; The manufacturer has not yet commented on prices. The other series – i.e. the FK, the ZA and the S series – are to follow at a later date, although the development of the corresponding C versions has not yet been completed. The previous versions of all series are to be offered in the meantime, Zowie explicitly describes the new C series as an “additional option”.
