The Review Board: SVT and SR are lacking in their assignment

The Board assesses that Swedish Television (SVT) and Swedish Radio (SR) have shortcomings. Education Radio (UR), on the other hand, fully meets the requirements.

The Review Board has assessed the public service companies' accounts for 2020, which was also the first year in a new period for broadcasting licenses 2020–2025.

The Board assesses that UR fulfills its assignment to fully for the third year in a row. At SR and SVT, however, there are shortcomings:

SR has only partially fulfilled the condition of reporting key figures that show productivity. SR has also not shown that the requirement to prioritize access to programs for young people with disabilities is met.

SVT has not fully reported what sponsorship grant the company received in connection with the international broadcast of the Melodifestivalen. Therefore, SVT has only partially met the requirements for reporting sponsorship grants and income in addition to fee funds. .

Every year, the Review Board assesses whether the public service companies SR, SVT and UR have fulfilled their assignments from the government. These include demands for economic efficiency, that companies should reflect the whole country and broadcast programs in different languages ​​and for different target groups. The assessments are made afterwards and are based on the companies' public service reports.
