Germany will mark against Hungary – with a gay arena

Abroad. When Germany play Hungary in the European Football Championship on Wednesday, politicians in Munich want to “mark” against the opposing country by lighting up the home arena with rainbow colors. It reports Die Welt.

The background to the German protest is the new antipedo law that the Hungarian government is preparing and which criminalizes gay and transsexual propaganda aimed at children.

In a cross-party statement from Munich City Council, politicians that they “profess diversity, tolerance and real equality in sport and in society as a whole”.

Munich's Social Democrat mayor Dieter Reiter states that he will contact Uefa and the German Football Association early next week to get to the rainbow-colored arena until Wednesday.

The City Council has also decided that the town hall will also flag with rainbow colors, in “solidarity with the LGBTQ environment in Hungary”.
