Domestic. The Parliamentary Ombudsmen (JO) will not initiate an investigation by the Public Health Agency's (FHM) press officer Christer Janson. It informs the authority in a decision that Samnytt pays attention to.

In January last year, Christer Janson reported Samnytt's journalist Mira Aksoy to the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) for writing an article questioning Swedish corona preparedness.

The Public Health Agency reported Mira Aksoy to MSB: “Foreign power”

FHM's official line was then still that the risk of the virus spreading in Sweden was low, and state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell had in the latest statement even questioned that the virus could be spread between humans.

– In order for there to be large outbreaks, the virus must be good at spreading from person to person. That does not seem to be the case here, he claimed.

Janson interpreted Aksoy's questionable article as an expression of an attempt to “dilute concerns” and “information influence” from “foreign power” because the Swedish line at the time was that a spread of the coronavirus to Sweden was unlikely. Therefore, Aksoy was reported to MSB's unit for psychological defense.

When Christer Janson's MSB report was revealed by Samnytt earlier this year, Mira Aksoy in turn reported Janson's actions to the Riksdag's ombudsmen. The Ombudsman now announces that they will not initiate an investigation.

“What you have stated does not give rise to any investigation from the Ombudsman's side”, writes Hilda member and former government official Lilian Wiklund in her decision , now in his capacity as Deputy Ombudsman.

– That was actually quite expected. High-ranking officials within an authority who are considered to have acted incorrectly by a private individual shall be audited by other high-ranking officials. But in this case, you do not even get as far as to start investigating the mistake, says Mira Aksoy in a comment.
